A Melancholic Deformation 愁变
They are sensitive, actually too sensitive that they feel oceans of feelings from the simplest things.
This capacity makes them unable to feel anything anymore, just to protect themselves. The world becomes empty for them and there's nothing they can do about it. It's a desperate struggle, in which they become melancholic and deformed.
I’ve always been trying to make my designs surpass the limits of being a design, or something
artistic, so I don’t really care about them being “beautiful” or “ugly”. I want them to be human-like, to live and have their own emotions, that whoever encounters with them will share the same emotion they have and in this case, feel the same deep sadness from their desperate struggle – a struggle that we human beings, unfortunately, have to face.
The simplicity of the color, the material and the silhouette brings about a melancholic feeling of emptiness and boredom, and conceals at the same time the great pain of “being able to feel” but “can’t feel”.
